Join Us

The IRIS Lab seeks to create a productive, fun, and welcoming research community. Please see below for information on how to join us, and direct any inquiries about the lab to Professor Coad at mcoad@nd.edu.

Graduate Students

We are always on the lookout for excellent new PhD students to start in the fall semester. To be considered for admission into the lab, please apply to the Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering PhD program by December 31st of the year before you would like to start, and indicate on your application that you are interested in working with Professor Coad. Successful applicants will have a strong academic record, relevant research experience, and shared research interests with the lab. While not required, it also helps if you bring your own funding, so please also apply to external fellowships (e.g., the NSF GRFP for U.S. Citizens) in the same year when you apply to the PhD program.

Undergraduate Students

We have ongoing openings for current Notre Dame undergraduate students to conduct research in the lab, and our weekly lab meetings are open for current Notre Dame students to attend. If you are interested in getting involved in the lab and/or attending a lab meeting, please email Professor Coad.
